Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road probably isn’t a movie for everyone, it certainly wasn’t for my wife. While I sat with my heart racing and a stupid grin on my face she finally asked “what on earth are we watching?” then got up and left.  This film is thin on plot and dialogue and is sometimes dumb, sometimes gross, sometimes a bit offensive but its almost always fun.  Its a really well done 2 hour chase scene and I can’t wait to see it again.  Millers direction is fantastic,  strong visuals with action that is easy to follow with big payoff stunts and explosions.  However for a movie that got a great deal of press for its practical effects I found it too heavily invested in oftentimes unnecessary and poor CGI.  Perhaps another disappointment was the under use of the Mad Max character.  In past movies he wasn’t big on dialogue either, but here he is more of an observer than a major participant in the events.
